Smith, Pinsent and Co., asking that a special meeting should be called of the Council to pass a resolution in favour of the electric order promoted by the Midland Electric Light and Power Company. Notice was given of the holding of such a meeting on the 10th prox., but from the sentiments expressed by Alderman Wackrill, Mr. Crowther Davies and others, it appeared that as the Council is promoting an electric-lighting order there is no probability that it will pass any order in favour of that of the company. …
