Birmingham County Court: Before His Honour Judge Chalmers: Bicycle Agents and their Liabilities: Frederick L. Dodds, of Stockton-on-Tees, solicitor, brought an action against the St. George’s Engineering Company, Pope Street, Birmingham, to recover £3 17s damages for breach of warranty on the sale of a bicycle. Mr. Pearson, barrister, appeared for plaintiff, and Mr. Kettle (instructed by Messrs. Smith, Pinsent, and Co.) for the defendants. In September 1889, the plaintiff bought a Rapid safety bicycle from Mr. Young, of Stockton-on-Tees, who displayed a card in his shop certifying that he was an agent for the defendants.
