Birmingham Daily Post: Friday 20th February 1914

The University of Birmingham: Governors’ Annual Meeting: Endowment of Chairs: The annual meeting of the Court of Governors of the University of Birmingham was held yesterday afternoon at Edmund Street, the Vice-Chancellor (Mr. Gilbert Barding) presiding: The Secretary (Mr. G. H. Morley) read a statement of the changes in the membership of the Court since the last yearly meeting, and the motion of the Vice-Chancellor the register was ordered to be amended in accordance therewith. The Treasurer-ship: A letter was read from Mr. Hume C. Pinsent resigning the office of treasurer to the University. The resignation having been received, the Vice-Chancellor moved, and the Court agreed, that the best thanks be presented to Mr. Pinsent for his valuable services. The Vice-Chancellor said Mr. Pinsent had left Birmingham and realised it would be impossible to carry out the duties of the office from a distance. He would, however, continue to give them the benefit of experience as a member of the Council. On the proposition of the Vice-Chancellor, seconded by Sir George Kenrick, Mr. Arthur Godlee was elected to the vacant office.
