Sellicks (Independent) presided at the revivalist meeting last night, at the Temperance Hall, Queen Street, Mr. Harry, Mr. Harrison, Mr. Pinsent, Dr. Hydon and Mr. Tancock offered prayer.

Newton Board of Guardians: The weekly meeting of the Board was held on Wednesday, at the Workhouse. The Rev. Preb. Wolfe presiding. There waa a large attendance of guardians: Alleged neglect by a Medical Officer: the Board were engaged a considerable time in enquiring into a complaint brought by a woman named Pike, of Torquay, against Dr. Gill, the medical officer of the place. The complaint was made last week but adjourned until Wednesday in order that the woman and her witnesses and Dr. Gill might all attend before the board. Dr. Gill also wrote the Board last week complaining that on going to the women’s house she abused him. The woman stated that last Monday week she obtained a medical order from Mr. Tozer, the relieving officer, for Dr. Gill to attend her husband who had been taken ill and brought home from his work in a cab. Sent the order to Dr. Gill the same evening about seven o’clock but he did not come to see her husband until Tuesday at two o’clock. … (a quarrel ensued about the delay and quality of care he was giving her husband, the Board voted to censure Dr. Gill for the delay) … Mr. Pinsent asked what answer would be sent to the woman. This, however, was not answered and the Board passed to the order of the day. ….

Anderson, from Alexandria, Malta, and Gibraltar, with the homeward Mediterranean mails, passengers, and cargo, also those from India. Aden, and Suez, arrived on Sunday morning. She brought 163 passengers, among whom were Lieutenant M. G. Gerard, Sir Robert and Lady Stuart, Mr. and Mrs. Fryer, Mr. Whitaker, infant and servant, Mr. James Claridge, Mrs. Chivers, Mr. Webb, Mr. A. B. Niven, Lieutenant Montgomery, from Bombay; Mrs. Roberts and four children, Mr. C. H. Grant, Miss Grant and infant, Mr. W. Pinsent, from Suez; Captain and Mrs. Peat. Dr. 0. Reilly, from Malta; Mr. and Mrs. Geach and two children, Master Thornton, Rev. Dr. McAnliffe, Colonel and Mrs. Laffan, Lieutenant Stratford, Captain G. Luxford, Sub-Lieutenants A. B. Milne, B. Cochrane, Brock, Dare, Arthur, King, Stoker, Robertson, Grandsmon, Orlebar, Collin, Galloway, and Clarke, Lieutenants Coddington, Harvey, Holbeach, Young, and Morrison, Midshipmen S. Knight and Poulton, Naval Instructor Braithwaite, Rev. Mr. McDowall, from Gibraltar. On freight the Bokhara had £ in specie, and 22,140 packages of cargo, including 10,430 half-chests of tea, 1212 bags of coffee, and 1092 bales of cotton. After discharging the mails, specie, passengers, and the Southampton portion of her cargo she proceeded on to London.
