Douglas George Pinsent was the eldest son of Albert George Pinsent by his wife, Bessie Edith (née Froom). He was born in Chudleigh in 1927 and grew up there with a younger brother and three sisters. Douglas, his eldest sister Christine and another sister, whose information has been redacted were living with their mother next door to their maternal grandparent’s home in Chudleigh when the England and Wales Register was compiled in 1939. Their father was absent – he was serving with the Military Police.

Douglas and Christine attended the funeral of one of their Froom cousins in Chudleigh in October 1949. Douglas was a “labourer” in a concrete works when he married Joyce Turner (née Hamilton), a widow from Kenton, in the Devon Central Registry Office in January 1957. The couple settled in Kenton, which is near Starcross south of Exeter. They had three sons and a daughter in the years that followed. All but one of the boys seems to have married so their families are probably still around.

Douglas George Pinsent died in Devon in 1993. His widow, Joyce stayed on in Kenton with her eldest son. She died in November 2010 and was buried in Starcross (Findagrave:worldvitalrecords.com).

Dennis was the eldest son of William Henry Pinsent by his wife Olive May (née Perry). He grew up in Newton Abbot with a younger brother, Roy Arthur Pinsent, in the 1930s. The England and Wales Register, compiled in 1939, shows that he was still at school. His brother’s name appears to be redacted. Dennis joined the “Devon Regiment” in the late 1940s or in 1950 and he Rita May Paul, a “shop assistant” in Newton Abbot while still in uniform in 1951. Whether he signed on for “National Service” or a longer term I am not sure. He was a Lance Corporal when his daughter was born in Newton Abbot the following year. She grew up and married in 1978.

Dennis and Rita moved up to Surrey sometime in the 1950s, and the Electoral Rolls tell us that they were living on Liberty Lane at Sayes Farm Caravan Site in Chertsey by 1956. What Dennis was doing there, I am not sure; however they returned to Newton Abbot in the 1970s and they lived on Ridgeway Road there through to the early 200s. Dennis died in the Torbay area of Devon in 2005 and Rita died there the following year.

Cyril Edwin Pinsent was the youngest son of Edwin John Pinsent by his second wife, Clara (née Clarke). He was born in Highland Court, in the Clifton area of Bristol and grew up there with his brother (Ronald Leslie Pinsent) and three sisters. His father was a “milk man” –  at least while his first wife was alive but he later switched to being “gardener” – like his father before him.

Cyril received a leg injury when his motor-bike collided with another that had a sidecar in 1954 (Bristol Evening Post: Friday 7th May 1954). How serious the injury was, I do not know. He stayed on in Bristol and was an “electrician’s mate” living in Henleaze when he married Wife (GRO1460), a “television factory worker,” in 1960. They had a daughter and a son in 1960’s. Their daughter is now married. Whether their son ever married and had children, I am not sure. He was living with his parents in Yeovil in the early 2000s. Cyril Edwin Pinsent died in Somerset in June 2003.
