William James Pinson “junior” was the eldest son of William James Pinson “senior” by his wife, Eva May (née Barrett). He grew up on “Heath Street” in Concord with at least two brothers and (probably) a sister. His father was a third-generation “butcher” but he never took to the trade. He opted to become a “clerk.” According to Cindy Kay (MyHeritage.com) William James “junior” married Hazel Slocombe in Burrowa (now Boorowa) in the Hilltops Region of New South Wales in 1937. They had at least one son and two daughters in the years that followed. They grew up to marry; however, one of the daughters, Barbara, died relatively young. The others may still be alive today.
William James and Hazel lived on “Stamford Street” in Cabarita in New South Wales in 1943. He was a “labourer” in those day, although of what sort I do not know. They were there in 1963, but had moved into an apartment on “Brighton Avenue” in the Lang subdivision of Harcourt by 1972. By then, William was a “clerk”. Hazel died in 1974 and William went to live with his son on “Cecilia” Street”, in Belmore North, in Grayndler by 1977. He was still living with them in 1980. He died in 1988.
William James’s son appears to have married in the mid 1950s and had at least two sons. His marriage may not have lasted though, as William James and his son seem to have been living together in 1977. However, his son may have remarried, although I do not know when. The Electoral Rolls show that William James’s two grandsons had come of age and that the family was still living in Belmore in 1980.
William James Pinson “late of Seven Hills and McMasters Beach, formerly of Cabarita, Penshurst and Campsie” died in June 1988. He was predeceased by his wife, Hazel and by his daughter Barbara (Sydney Morning Herald: Thursday 23rd June 1988). According to Cindy Kay (above), Hazel died in Sydney on 28th December 1974.
