Electric Lighting in Birmingham: Report of the Committee: The following is the report of the General Purposes Committee on the subject of electric lighting … Your committee are of the opinion that it is not, at present, desirable for the Corporation of Birmingham, as the local authority, to acquire the power to supply electricity within the city. … “The draft order was, however, ultimately revised and amended and on the 10th day of January, the Town Clerk sent a copy of the same to Messrs. Smith, Pinsent, and Co., as representing the form of order which the committee would recommend the Council to approve. …
