Express and Echo: Tuesday 1st September 1874

Newton Abbot: Petty Sessions Today: Before Dr. Atkinson (chairman) Admiral Wise, Captain Cornish Bowden, G. B. Ellicombe, Esq. and John Vicary senr., Esq. Mr. Boon, of Bishopsteington, appeared for an occasional license for a flower show to be held on Mrs. Huddlestone’s lawn in the village. Mr. John Ball Pinsent, of Newton Bushell, made the application on behalf of Mr. Boon. The chairman said the Bench had already come to the conclusion not to grant any licenses for flower shows.
