Trewman’s Exeter Flying Post or Plymouth and Cornish Advertiser: Wednesday October 24th 1884

Dawlish Agricultural Association: This newly formed association held its annual meeting and exhibition on Monday under most favourable auspices and the results were regarded by all interested as very satisfactory and encouraging. The society includes within the area of its operations the parishes of Dawlish, Mamhead, Ashcombe, Kenton, East and West Teignmouth and Bishopsteignton. The meeting on Monday took place in a field belonging to Mr. Robins and situated near Dawlish on the Exeter Road … [Description of event and entries, and of judges – including] ... The judges were Mr. H. Pinsent, Whitstone, Bovey Tracey, Mr. Elon Wright, Goodrington, Paignton; and Mr. W. Hayward, Addiscott, Moretonhampstead. …  A public dinner was held in the afternoon at the London Hotel, Dawlish, where about 150 persons sat down to an excellent repast: The chair was occupied by the Right Hon. Lord Haldon, and there were also present Sir J. H. Kennaway, Bart. M.P., Colonel Walrond, M.P. [and others, including] Pinsent …
