Birmingham Daily Post: Tuesday September 16th 1884

AFFAIRS OF MESSRS. B. N. SMITH & SON: A private meeting of the creditors of B. N. Smith and Son, the well-known builders, and contractors, of the Crescent, Birmingham, was held at the Cannon Street Hotel, London, on Wednesday last, when it was resolved, subject to the assent of the whole of the creditors, to make an assignment of the estate. Messrs. Linklater, of London (instructed by Messrs. Barlow, Smith, and Pinsent, of Birmingham), represented the debtors, whose embarrassments have mainly arisen, we understand, from losses on London contracts. The decision of the creditors will be known in a day or two.
