There used to be a very fine old mansion close to the monument, but I fancy it is pulled down; the village is called Burton Pinsent and many an hour have I spent there. When Mr. Robert Cuffe was alive the old North Devon coach used to change horses from his farm stables (at Burton House), which were let to Mr. Whitmarsh.
