Leicester Cricket Ground, AYLESTONE ROAD: There was a fair muster of spectators on the above ground on Saturday to witness the running off of the first trial heats of the company’s 130 Yards All England Handicap. The amount offered to prize money was sufficient to attract a large entry, among whom were peds. from all parts of the country. Over 50 of the 83 who entered went to the mark, and the running throughout was of an interesting character, while the finishes in some of the heats were as close as they well could be: Heat 1: G. Perkins, 22 3/4 yards, 1; W. Walker, Rothwell, 13 ¾, 2; J. Lumb, 20, 3; J. Wright, Thurmaston, 17 ½, 0; Fowkes, 22 1/2, 0. Won by a foot, after an exciting race; half a yard between second and third. Heat 2: J. Daft, 18 yards, w.o. Heat 3: Tegerdine, 21 1/4 yards, 1; A. Queenborough, Shilton, 18 3/4, 2; G. Pincent, 23 3/4, 3. Won on the tape; half a yard between second and third. Heat 4: Flear, Burton, 16 1/2, 1; A. Hopkins, 21, 2; Shoe Fly, 27, 3; Young Smith, 23 1/4, 0.
