Football: Cambridge University v. West Bromwich Albion: The famous League Team visited Cambridge yesterday afternoon and suffered defeat by three goals to two. The ‘Varsity played their full strength, with the exception of J. H. Manly; and the visitors gave trials to Pinsent (goal-keeper) and Williams (left full back). After twenty minutes fairly even play McLeod scored for the Albion, this being the only point registered before half time. After changing ends, Bassett immediately added the second point, but from here ‘Varsity showed some good play, and goals were secured by H. J. Broadbent, C. J. Burnup and W. W. Lowe. The Leaguers tried hard to equalise but the goal keeping of Lawerence was too fine and the game ended as stated.
