Electric Light Committee: At a meeting of this Committee, it was moved by Alderman Wackrill, seconded by Councillor Richards, and carried unanimously: “that the Mayor be appointed Chairman of this Committee during the ensuing year” … The Deputy Town Clerk as instructed to write to Messrs. Pinsent, Smith and Co., solicitors for the Midland Electric Light Company to ascertain if they take up the same position as last years, or if they are prepared to open negotiations with a view of arriving at a settlement and if no such settlement can be arrived at the Committee recommend that the Council’s application be by way of open arbitration with the Board of Trade. A letter was read from Messrs. Pinsent, Smith, and Co., with reference to applications for Electric Lighting Orders, and the same was left with the Town Clerk to reply to on lines indicated …
