The Devon County Show: To be opened at Newton on Monday. The Devon County Agricultural Show has twice in its twenty six years of existence visited Newton Abbot for its annual show – first in 1875 and then in the Jubilee year. Next week’s function at the town on the Teign, however, promises to outdo both its predecessors from all points of view and to take a prominent place among the Society’s successes … … A Special service for those engaged will be held in the yard on Sunday by the Rev. S.G. Harris, Rector of Highweek. The yard will be opened at half past nine on Monday morning, and the formal opening will be at noon when Mr. L. Bearne, chairman of the Urban District Council, Mr. W. S. Pinsent, chairman of the Highweek Parish Council, and the local committee (Mr. G.D. Woollcombe, Hon. Secretary) will welcome the President, Lord Clifford, and the Council for the Association.
