Highweek: There was a good attendance including all the Parish Councillors except Rev. S. G. Harris, absent through indisposition. Mr. W. S. Pinsent, Chairman of the Parish Council, having been nominated for a seat, Mr. W. Vicary, was voted to the chair. For the 14 seats the following were nominated: Charles Gilbert Vicary, merchant; Samuel George Harris, rector; John Olver, clerk; William Shapley, grocer; Charles Adams, farmer; William Swayne Pinsent, merchant; William Henry Jarvis, schoolmaster; William Henry Brock, clerk; John Wright, merchant; Tom Gregory Weatherdon, mason; Alfred Buckland Segar; yeoman; William Lang Shilston, farmer; Arthur Henry Burge, watchmaker; John Dolbear, farmer. As there were only these 14 nominations for the 14 seats no poll was necessary, and the Chairman declared them duly elected. … … (ongoing discussion) … …
