Mr. W. S. Pinsent presided at a meeting of the Newton Diamond Jubilee Committee last evening. Reports from various sub-committees were adopted, and it was reported that the receipts for the day’s celebrations were L. 245 15s 6d, and for the Hospital, L. 926 11s 2d. It was decided to present the two secretaries with a medal each and that the members of the Finance Committee of 1867 be asked to hand their balance of L. 7 over to the 1897 Committee.
