Highweek: Mr. W. S. Pinsent presided at the monthly meeting of the Parish Council: There was a full attendance. A Committee was appointed to arrange for the purchase of a new water cart and to give direction as to watering the streets … (other business including a letter to Mr. Seale Hayne, M.P., regarding the Local Government Highway Bill) … The Council then formed themselves into Committee to consider the application (proposal to amalgamate with Newton Urban District Council). The result was the formation of a committee comprising Rev. S. G. Harris, Major Kitson, and Messrs. W. S. Pinsent, C. Vicary, and W. L.  Shilston and A. B. Segar to confer with the Urban Council. …
