Western Chronicle: Friday 9th March 1894

Football: Axminster v. Sidbury: Played at Sidbury on Wednesday last: this match ended with a victory for the home team by two tries to nil. The ground was in a slippery condition rendering good play impossible. It is fair to state that the principal positions of play in the home team were held by men from Sidmouth: Axminster being assisted by Dawson, of Chard. Axminster team: Back, Pinsent, (captain); three quarters, Watkins, Dawson, P. O. T. Bury, and Clist; halves, Loud and Badcock; forward Restorick, Bucknole, Mitchell, Rabjohns, Clarke, Hayman, Frost and Goddard.
