Brixham Liberals: The first of a series of social evenings at the Brixham Liberal Club was held on Saturday evening; Mr. W. J. Sander presided over a good attendance of members. A lengthy and enjoyable programme was submitted, the heartiness of the applause testifying as to its excellence. The programme: — Piano and violin duet, Misses Pinsent and Uff; song, “Angeline,” Master Edwards; song, “We close at 2 on Thursdays,” Mr. W. Jordan; phonograph selection, Mr. James; song, “Let ’em all go.” Mr. W. Shorter; piano and violin trio, Misses Pinsent, Uff and Dyer; song. “The new panama hat,” Master Edwards; song, Mr. Putt Jordan; political resume, Mr. W. J. Sanders; song. “The dear old shire,” Miss Pinsent; song. ” Rather more,” Mr. Shorter; phonograph selection. Mr. James; song, Mr. W. Jordan; recitation, “The fisherman’s alphabet,” Mr. Walter Barnes; piano and violin trio, Misses Pinsent, Uff and Dyer. On the motion of the Chairman, a vote of thanks was accorded to those who contributed towards making the social such a pronounced success. A vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman, and the proceedings terminated with the singing of the National Anthem.
