Game Trespass at Ilsington: Sidney Batten, and Samuel Powlesland, of Bovey Tracey and William Pinsent of Hennock, were summoned at Newton Petty Sessions yesterday for trespassing in search of conies on Sept. 12 on land at Ilsington, in the occupation of Mr. W. M. Singer: Defendants pleaded guilty, and Mr. Eastley who appeared for the prosecution, stated the facts. With regard to Pinsent, he used a serious threat to Mr. S. Courtier, who looked after Mr. Singer’s rights, and also gave a wrong name.  Samuel Courtier said he saw the defendant ferreting. They ran away when they saw him riding towards them, Batten and Powlesland got away. He came to Pinsent who, when the witness asked his name, used threats and bad language. He met the other two defendants afterwards, who were very civil. Defendants, when searched, had six nets on them. The witness saw the two defendants, Pinsent and Batten, the previous evening at the same place. The Bench fined Pinsent 30s inclusive. Batten 15s inclusive, and Powlesland was ordered to pay the costs (3s 6d).
