The Sewage Works: To be Taken Over: Main Roads Expenditure: At the meeting the Ottery St. Mary Council Mr. H. Manning presided: There were also present the Rev. G. M. L. Reade, Messrs. S. C. Franks, H. G. Luxton, W. Salter, J. Baker, F. Seward, and H. Marks. A letter was read from Messrs. Pinsent and Co., solicitors to the arbitrator (Mr. Willcox) appointed in connexion with the sewerage works, asking whether either of the parties: desired him to state case on any question or questions of law before he gave his award. The Clerk said that he had on the authority of the Committee appointed to deal with the matter, written that the Council desired the arbitrator to state a case on several points. To this Messrs. Pinsent and Co. had replied that the time of the award had accordingly been extended to June 30. They also stated that Messrs. Stephens and Sons’ solicitors did not desire a case to be stated. The Clerk asked for instructions with regard to the taking over of the works according to the engineer’s certificate, as the time expired on July 4th. … (continues) …
