Leicester Daily Post: Tuesday 23rd November 1915

For Local Sailors and Soldiers: Leicester “Post” & “Mercury” Fund: A Record Day: It is gratifying to be able to announce that yesterday’s subscriptions amounted to about £70. This is a record so far as this year is concerned, and if contributions come in on the same generous scale between now and Christmas, we hope to achieve our objective which is to raise £4,000. The bookings for the matinee at the Palace on December 9th started very auspiciously yesterday … … (discussion of events) … … On the following day a concert is to be given at the Shaftesbury Hall, Holy Bones. The contributors are the Misses M. White, G. Bryan, D. Pinsent, N. Parr, K. K. Parr, D. Parr and A. Parr, and Mr. G. W. Reed. The dramatic sketch, “Our Betty,” is to be performed. The same evening will take place the concert arranged by the Blind Singers, in the Victoria Hall, Mill Hill Lane.
