Hockey: … Kent v Hampshire: At Southampton, on Feb. 1st, Kent beat Hampshire by five goals to two after a half time score of three to nil. J. R. Pinsent, W. Faulder Smith and Cr. R. Satterthwaite shot the Kent goals in the first half. Doll and W. R. Gunner scored for Hampshire after changing ends and Pinsent and Satterthwaite were responsible for the remaining goals for Kent. Where the visitors had the advantage was in the superiority of their forwards’ combination. For the most part Hampshire adopted “hit-and-rush” tactics. W. W. Wilkins, their goalkeeper, showed poor judgement in running out and leaving his charge.
