Echo of Election: Sir A. Steel-Maitland’s Write for Libel: We are informed by Messrs. Pinsent and Co., solicitors, of Birmingham. that a writ for libel has been issued on behalf of Sir Arthur Steel-Maitland, the Minister of Labour in the late Government, against Mr. J. Johnson, election agent to Mr. C. J. Simmons. M.P., in the Erdington Division at the recent election, in respect of a pamphlet issued to the electors of the division on the eve of the poll. A writ has also been served upon the printers of the pamphlet. Mr. C. J. Simmons was the Labour candidate who defeated Sir Arthur Steel-Maitland by 133 votes at the recent election.
