Portsmouth Evening News: Thursday 9th December 1920

Berks Beaten by Sussex: Reading, yesterday, in mist, Sussex beat Berks in a hockey match by 8 goals to 2. Each side was well represented, and play in the first half was even, R. T. Farnell (Brighton) and J. K. Mathews (Worthing) scoring for Sussex, and R. H. Upson (Maidenhead) and A. P. E. Chapman (Wokingham) for Berkshire. In the second half Sussex excelled in shooting and put on 6 more points without any response from Berks. Farnell obtained the third, sixth, seventh, and eighth goals. Major Pinsent (Maresfield Camp) the fourth, and J. Mathews the fifth.
