A special meeting of the local branch of the Rational Friendly Society has been held in the Temperance Hall, Bovey Tracey, Mr. J. L. Black (Chairman of the branch) presided, and there was fair attendance. The report, presented by the Secretary (Mr. W. F. Welsford), made special reference to the number of fresh members enrolled during the year, both male and female. This was regarded as highly satisfactory. Subsequently an address was given by Mr. C. Lugg (Kingsteignton), who has recently been returned unopposed as a delegate for the Newton district: Those taking part in the discussion arising were Messrs. W. Sharp, G. Pinsent, and J. Setters.
