Brewery Company and Conduct of House: A claim by the heir under a will for compensation in respect of the British Lion Inn, Russell Square Leicester, was considered by the Compensation Authority at the Town Hall today. It was stated that George Pinsent, the former tenant, went in in 1947, and was there until he died in 1932. The house was carried on by his widow until she too, died a few months later. She left a will in which Thomas William Anstey was made heir, and the claim was on his behalf. Alderman J. Parsons, for the brewery company, said there had been many complaints about the conduct of the house and the had tried several times to get the tenant out. The place was untidy and dirty. Compensation at £400 inclusive was made.
