Charles William was the eldest son of Wilfred Pinsent by his wife Louie Irene (née Bassford). He was born in Leicester and he grew up in a grocery store and off-license on Martin Street. On leaving school, he trained to be an “engineer’s draughtsman” and an “estimator.”
Charles married Daisy Fryer, who was a “suspender press operator” and the daughter of a “brush maker”, in Leicester, in December 1941. They had two sons in the years that followed. The eldest, another Charles William Pinsent, was born in Leicester. He became a “hosiery knitter” after school and married Faye Loraine Porter, a “hosiery seam carver” in 1961. They had six children (four boys and two girls) in the 1960s and early 1970s, and some at least have since married. Their parent’s marriage does not seem to have lasted as Faye Loraine Pinsent married Terence J. Finnimore in the summer of 1977. Charles William “junior” became a “British Rail Rolling Stock Technician.” He died in Nottingham in 1993.
Charles and Daisy’s younger son also married and had children in the 1970s. Between them, they have doubtless extended the family line. Daisy (née Fryer) died in Loughborough in 1998 and her husband, Charles William Pinsent (“senior”) died in Leicester a few years later.
