George Street and Park Lane: Traffic Congestion at Junction: Widening Scheme Opposed: “It is like trying to get two quarts into a pint pot.” stated Mr. Edward Haines, Croydon’s assistant Town Clerk, at a public inquiry in Croydon on Friday last week, when describing the traffic at the junction of George Street and Park Lane Corydon. The inquiry, which was conducted by Mr. E. M. Bull, Ministry of Transport Inspector, was into Croydon Corporation’s application for sanction of an order made by them in November last year authorising them to purchase compulsorily land and property on the corners of George Street and Park Lane in order to widen and improve the road at this corner.
