Stevenage Horticultural Society: Public’s Lack of Support Deplored: … … … Financial Position: The membership, said Mr. Barker, was still maintained at the 100 mark. The financial statement showed a balance of £29/18/3 compared with £39/15/- the previous year. Comdr. Clive Pinsent, vice-president, who presided, congratulated the Society on their sound position. He said that he thought the Society undoubtedly deserved better support from the town. The meeting agreed to a suggestion that the Autumn Show be held on a Saturday, instead of a Thursday, as it was felt that the change of day might improve the attendance. Officials elected were President, Mr. J. A. Marsden Popple; vice-presidents re-elected en bloc; hon. secretary and treasurer. Mr. F. H. Barker; assistant show secretary, Mr. P. H. Hollis; hon. auditor, Mr. H. H. Mason; retiring members of the committee re-elected. Comdr. Pinsent, Messrs. J. Anthony, H. Smeaton, and Clarence Elliott.
