North Devon Fifty Years Ago: June 12th, 1884: … An important Liberal meeting was held at Bideford, when from out of the recently formed district Liberal committee, several members were chosen to act as an Executive Committee: A letter was read from Sir George S. Stucley, Bart., resigning from the Presidency of the local Association. Dr. J. Thompson, J.P., was elected President. The vice-presidents elected were Messrs. J. W. Narraway, T. T. Wickham, T. Vincent, W. Pincent, and S. L. Rooker. Mr. J. E. Tucker was appointed secretary, and Mr. T. Trewin was again elected hon. treasurer. …
