North Devon Fifty Years Ago: June 12th, 1884: … An important Liberal meeting was held at Bideford, when from out of the recently formed district Liberal committee, several members were chosen to act as an Executive Committee: A letter was read from Sir George S. Stucley, Bart., resigning from the Presidency of the local Association. Dr. J. Thompson, J.P., was elected President. The vice-presidents elected were Messrs. J. W. Narraway, T. T. Wickham, T.
